Every Day Is A Day
Of
Thanksgiving
Psalm 100 →King James Version (KJV)
100 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
For the title this today I would like to use:
(Every day is a day of Thanksgiving)
As we prepare to move into the Holiday Season, people all over the world are preparing all kinds of foods to share with family and friends. Many of them are preparing to go to some church to thank God for keeping them from this time last year up until now. The sad thing is that the last time that they took time to thank the lord for keeping them was this time last year.
Some of us are a little more consistent than that. For some of us, we thank God when something big happens in our lives. For instance, upon a diagnoses concerning cancer, involving one our family members, or ourselves; possibly one of our love ones has been and miraculously blessed with the cancer going into remission, then we find ourselves thanking the lord for setting us free from an illness that could have taken us out of our human existence.
Then there are those of us, who take the words written in this 100 Division of psalms literally. The songwriter says make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye land. Noise is a sign of victory. Apparently, the songwriter assumes that all of the land knows what the lord did for us. Not everybody knows who Jesus is and not everybody knows what He [Jesus] did for us. If you do not know that He [Jesus] paid a price for us, that we could not ever pay, it may be a little harder to say thank you Lord for all you have done for all of us, including myself.
Nevertheless, for those of us who know, we count it a privilege to say thank you Lord, “Glory Hallelujah” to your holy and righteous name. This is not something that you say exclusively on Thanksgiving Day. You see if you know that he [Jesus], was wounded for our transgressions, was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed, then it becomes a lot easier for all of humanity to say I thank you Lord, Praise your name Jesus.
Now the bible tells us all, that God inhabits the praise of his people. So, if I understand correctly, it pleases God when His people earnestly praise Him. Now if that is so, then you do not want to wait until Thanksgiving Day to thank God, for the many wonderful things that He [Jesus] has done. Things like waking us up on this morning and starting us on our way giving us an opportunity to see a brand new day. Things like keeping us safe every day, things like blessing us with a job and blessing us on our jobs; things like blessing our children, even in school, blessing our families, friends, love ones, along with everyone we know. We have an opportunity to thank the Lord every day for things like calling us to be witnesses that the Holy Spirit lives in all of us.
So on this Thanksgiving day in all that you are giving thanks for, remember to thanks God for being able to give thanks, every day.
